  1. Nice! Well, we (LOLQOV) make at least 350 QOV a year. Just signed up for the New Years Day kick off and haven't picked out all my fabrics yet, so good timing! I am a follower and Alycia, you're doing an awesome job....such enthusiasm!!

  2. I personally finished 25 QOV's this year, from piecing to binding, and have cut several more. I've been a follower from day one of the blog. Thanks Alycia for keeping us all up to date on QOVF's accomplishments.

  3. I have made 19 quilts this year. I only make the tops and do the binding. Several blocks made for our guilds QOV they make. I have followed this blog from the start.
Thanks to Alicia and all for all the inspiration.
I plan on participating in the NY sew along.

  4. As the chairperson for our small guild in Southeastern IN, I am proud that we were recently able to send over 100 quilts to the VA hospital in Indianapolis. I'm always looking for new patterns to keep my volunteers interested. A mystery quilt would be fun.

  5. In April, 2012, two friends and I organized a QOV workshop to test my new quilt pattern. On 10 Nov we awarded 27 quilt from this workshop at our local American Legion. Local presentation was inspired by Alycia's work in Colorado. I also made 2 of Alycia's mystery quilt tops. One was quilted with Kimmy Bruner on Craftsy.com and the other awaits my attention. I am a QOV longarmer since 2005 and usually only quilt 3-4 QOVs a year. I was so proud to be a part of our little project this year and we have all decided to make this an annual event. Thanks, Alycia, for all your inspiration!

  6. I cant count the number I have worked on. Our local group has made over 400 this year. Several of my online friends send theirs to me to quilt and submit to our local group. I have attended on presentation and I hope to do more. This is such a wonderful activity.

  8. Well, I'm told I am an over-achiever. This year I pieced almost 80 quilts for QOV, plus cut out about 40-50 kits for others to sew. I cut backs for my quilts plus about 200 others. I also cut signature strips to collect at events totaling over 1000! I'll try to do better next year.....

  9. I pieced 12 quilts in 2012 and have finished the binding on the 3 I got back from being quilted. Hi Alycia! If you don't know how to contact me then I guess I don't need to do the binding on the remaining 9 quilts. LOL

  10. What a great opportunity for everyone to chime in and let us know what we have been doing this past year.
What I have done pale's to the work the Idaho/Eastern Washington groups are doing. I would like to take this opportunity to "Brag" on them. They are a dedicated group of individuals I am proud to be associated with. The number of quilts produced by our men and women is staggering. We request Red/White/Blue patriotic quilts, it is what they are provide. We have changed lives one quilt at a time through personal presentations and sent quilts through the foundation.
Our network of communities and quilters continues to grow. Thank you Alycia for giving us the opportunity to share our work with the QOV family! We love seeing new ideas, sharing the beautiful letters and sometimes shedding a tear or two. We can all be proud of the work we are doing.

Hi Alycia! I took up your challenge and made 12 QOVs from start to end. I am totally impressed by the output by others. I already belong to your blog and get wonderful inspiration from the pictures you have posted all year long! I can be reached at quilttiger @comcast.net.

  12. Hi Alycia
I have enjoyed your blog as well as the wonderful Mysteries that are put out on Persimmon Quilts. I left a note on the blog and have no idea if I've got it right. I just also wanted you to know I've enjoyed the pictures you share of the the quilts your group has made as well those of some of the veterans and soldiers who've received them.

I'm more of a lone quilter. So my efforts are small compared to what your group has accomplished. I doubt my contributions amount to much compared to those like Barbara Wrinkler but I set a goal of at least two tops completed per month for this year.

As of this date I've completed 30. 28 of them have been quilted by longarmers and sent on to their destinations. Most to Afghanistan, a couple to Germany and two were special requests here in the states. I have two more in progress in my sewing room. One is Nancy Millers latest mystery and the other is of star blocks. By the time they are finished I will also have enough extra blocks to pieces another QOV sampler quilt. Pretty good for sewing about 3 hours every evening and maybe an extra 5 hours over a weekend.

Sounds like the new mystery will be a lot of fun. I should be ready to start when it does.

  13. I have completed 15 QOV's (all except long arming) this year and yes, it is an obsession. I have three on my table in some stage of completion, and I have six waiting for destinations. I love QOVF and I hope to make 15 in 2013. I love the mystery quilts offered by LeAnn, Nancy and the Craftsy Blog by Alicia. There are not enough hours in the day to make these wonderful quilts to comfort our soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors. Blessings to you all during this holiday season for all the comfort you help to provide.

Our group, the CT Quilters, have delivered many to our local VA Hospital. PS I just signed up as a follower - should have done it sooner since I love Alycia's quilt shows for inspiration!

  28. I was appointed Regional Coordinator of West Virginia on November 10, 2012 and I have made 8 tops, longarm quilted 3 of them personally, and presented 4 of them to date. I am doing my best to reach out to my community and get this off the ground in my state. I recently had a QOV Block drive and received blocks that I am truly thankful for. I really needed them and I am putting them to great use. You can reach me at sherra.bailey@qovf.org

  29. spreading the word is my goal , Appointed Minnesota Coordinator in November it is a great honor to present these quilts to so many deserving warrior's. I have done 13 quilts and have gotten a few donations for the cause. We can never have to many quiters on this quest. carol.olson@qovf.org

  30. I have just finished my first QOV quilt and I am in the process of donating now. I plan to make at least 3 next year, in honor of my son who currently serves in the USMC and has already had 3 tours in Iraq/Afghanistan. QOV is close to his heart. Missie.Galentine@hotmail.com

  31. I made three complete QOV quilts this past year, helped with two different blog campaigns to get blocks, tops & finished quilts made for a QOV group, and made a number of blocks. Still I know there are many that do far more than I do. But, if I win I'd be honored to use these fabrics to make QOV quilts. Although, I was reminded today that my brother-in-law, who served in Vietnam and was affected by Agent Orange, and is now living in a care facility, has never received a QOV quilt. So, while I'll still make QOV quilts for giving to others, I do think I need to make one for my brother-in-law.

  32. I made a whole quilt top this year, and did lots of blocks last year. I need more fabric to make more, but hope to get 2 tops done in 2013, if I can fund the fabric (or win it!) Thanks.

  33. I connected with QOV in September and have quilted 17 quilts to date. One of those 17 I had pieced as well. I was so busy with quilting, I hadn't had time to do any piecing...it's been an amazing journey so far!

  34. Today I sent my 20th top to be quilted. # 19 is already with a longarmer being quilted and 18 have been presented this year! This is an all time high for me - I usually struggle getting 12 tops made in a year. Retirement is wonderful :) Without our marvelous longarmers none of this would have been accomplished - MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU -

  36. I've only made one QOV this year (start to finish), but I have concentrated on charity sewing/quilting this year. My daughter (18) and I have made several quilts and pillowcases for the local women and children's center, baby quilts for the Army neonatal unit, and adult bibs for the veteran's home. I'm looking forward to getting more involved with the QOV project as we are a military family!

  45. Not a 'numbers' person, so I don't keep track of how many I've done. But..I have several going in various stages at all times. There is a steady stream of QOV's going through my sewing studio. I admire the ladies who work in the groups and spur others on to create more QOV's, but I am a lone worker. I treasure my long arm partners, for all alone, I would barely finish one per year! Here's to many more of our deserving military being covered in QOV's in 2013!!

  48. It's a bit difficult to say exactly having been the coordinator for Oregon for the last year. I have cut kits for at least 100 tops. Help 5 Sew-ins, quilted 40+ quilts made sure bindings were put on and presentation cases were made while presenting over 150 quilts. Not sure how it all adds up but have had my fingers in a few. J.
