The afternoon of Saturday, 24 July, a QOVs workshop was held at What's Your Stitch 'n Stuff quilt shop in Virginia Beach, VA to celebrate the guild's accomplishment of sending 1,000 QOVs to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center ICU in Germany. The ten tops assembled by Tidewater Quilters Guild members, many which are already in the hands of guild longarm quilters, is a great way to start the next group of quilts bound for Landstuhl.
During the workshop a QOV was presented to gold star mother Darlene Kelly of Virginia Beach. It was made for her by her friend Susan Long. The local newspaper, The Virginian-Pilot, send a reporter to the quilt shop to write an article and take a few photos. The article appeared as the cover story for the Sunday, 1 August edition of the Virginian-Pilot's Beacon (Virginia Beach's local insert to the paper).
